Zora went from a $1.2B high to around $68M FDV.

@base also had to move the Base App away from creators and social into something more finance-focused.

That alone tells you how badly their original bet played out.

@jessepollak has now admitted that Base was wrong to believe onchain social and creator coins would drive the next wave of adoption.

And honestly, there’s a lesson in that.

Base is backed by one of the biggest companies in crypto.

They have money, data, experienced builders, and access to some of the smartest people in the industry.

They still got it wrong.

So you don’t always have to get everything right the first time.

You can strongly believe in something, spend months building it, and later realise it isn’t working.

The important thing is being honest enough to accept it and move in a different direction.

Base didn’t disappear because the social bet failed.

They changed focus and kept building.

Sometimes progress is simply admitting that your first plan was wrong.
