Well, this is the interesting part.

If XRPL is being used for payments (which I doubt, cos it will likely be used for settlement), then multi currency needs large liquidity pools that involve XRP.

Mastercard will create APIs for agents to consume, linking into Mastercard network. Mastercard will likely use its private database to track payments.

The exciting part is the settlement. Usually it's like this:

After set timeframe, Mastercard calculates "Bank X receives AUD$1.2M for the following transactions: xxxx".

Then Mastercard currently sources AUD liquidity to pay the bank.

Bank received the settlement, then distributed payment to each individual account.

So in this model, XRPL will be used for settlement, and make the AUD payment via stablecoins (not today, just an example) noting that the bridge currency would still be XRP.

So yes, all activity that locks up XRP in liquidity pools will result in XRP price increase, of course as the pools explode in value.
