DAT have been a disaster so far.\n\nCompliance issues, governance issues, strange mechanisms to enrich the public faces that sponsored them. Faces that — regrettably to point out — were often among the most popular and credible in the crypto world.\n\nThe bulk have lost over 90% on the exchange. Some, besides losing huge sums, have also completely eliminated any chance of survival.\n\nIf you "believe" in a token, direct investment is better and don’t rely on people who live off your lifelong savings.

For DAT, there is often the opinion: “If you buy DAT shares, you should hold the underlying coin’s spot.” But this is largely from an individual investor’s perspective.

Among institutional investors, there are entities that, due to investment mandates, custody, accounting, internal regulations, cannot easily buy the spot, let alone an ETF.

For them, DAT serves as a wrapper that provides exposure to crypto assets via the vehicle of a listed equity.

Furthermore, preferred shares like STRC attract a different investor segment than common stock.

What they look at is not the ideology of BTC itself, but the yield, credit risk, capital structure, dividend source, and priority.

In other words, the essence of DAT 2.0 is not “whether the spot is purer,” but “which investor, under which constraints, can allocate funds into which vehicle.”

I'm so glad DAT and his team never gave up pursuing a real product market fit.
