Nearly $47M was drained across at least six incidents between July 19–25.

The recurring weak point was the infrastructure trusted to protect the contracts: validator keys, signing logic, upgrade permissions and internal access controls.

An attacker obtained signing keys from five hot validators on its Arbitrum bridge, reached quorum and withdrew the funds after the roughly 200‑second dispute window passed without a challenge.

One report traces the compromise back to social engineering that spread from a development environment into validator systems.

The funds were later swapped into around 12,467 ETH. Arbitrum’s native bridge was unaffected.
