    There is a big gaslight in crypto right now DON'T LET YOURSELF BE FOOLED! + people are advocating for centralization to make up for the hack (e.g., Arbitrum freezing 30k ETH) + but centralization was what made the hack possible in the first place -- via centralized, insecure bridges managed by centralized admin keys (single point of failure) So, instead of advocating for more decentralization to make crypto and defi more secure (thus avoiding these centralized attack surfaces) the industry now pushes for even more centralization to try to solve a problem that centralization itself has created It's a hijack and a gaslight More decentralization would have prevented these hacks from happening We need more decentralization and better security standards, not less The same attack surface DPRK used to hack these protocols could be used to hack the tools that are being used to freeze and seize the stolen funds back -- they only need to compromise the right keys (i.e., Arbitrum's security council in this recen

    Arbitrum freezing funds protects L2 users from being treated as second-class in the Kelp recovery. Kelp prioritizing mainnet over bridged assets sets a risky precedent with little upside. Freezing helps rebalance things by showing hacked L2 assets can be stopped. Bridges should add fast freeze mechanisms for hacks too to trap hackers. Yes, it’s more centralized but if you want maximum censorship resistance, use mainnet.

    The centralized control that allowed Arbitrum to steal back funds from DPRK existed on Ethereum, not Arbitrum. The inbox contract on ETH was upgraded to allow impersonation, and then sent a message to the L2 as if it were DPRK requesting to move funds. If you want to be mad, be mad at upgradeable proxy contracts.

    Blockchains are indeed decentralized. It means they don't rely on a centralized power and they are maintained by consensus. Basically, blockchain management is distributed among consensus partners in a decentralized way. Today, the Arbitrum Security Council's decision is a simple example of consensus. I congratulate @arbitrum on user-first actions taken as part of the consensus. Anyone who disagrees with this has absolutely no idea of the consensus and founding ideas in the Bitcoin whitepaper.
