While the upgrade was designed to remain fully compatible with existing infrastructure—including wallets, addresses, RPCs, and SDKs—the results showed notable performance trade-offs. In particular, signature sizes expanded significantly from 65 bytes to 2,420 bytes, and cross-region transaction throughput declined by roughly 40%. Overall, the report indicates that although the migration approach is technically feasible, improvements in both network and data-layer scalability will be necessary before any potential production rollout.
