    If we\'re changing the "fixed fees" for HCS transactions is it time for us to revisit fixing fees in USD for the $HBAR network? Yes. "Predictable/fixed fees in USD" is a midwit gimmick and shame upon us all for falling for it. The purported benefit is that fixing fees in USD will insulate holders from fluctuations and make it a better asset for institutions to hold on an institutional balance sheet, but that actually isn\'t true (and the regulatory concern is moot). In fact, fixing fees in USD but requiring payment in HBAR exposes users to 2x the volatility, as they experience fluctuations in the value of the asset AND fluctuations in the network utility those network utility tokens will pay for. Fixed fees in USD are great *IF* you can pay in stables. Then institutions don\'t need to hold it at all. Needless to say, it will be necessary to convert those fees into HBAR to be held by the network treasury and cycled through to staking/node reward accounts. That could be a great alternative to the current state. It provides little benefit to predict "how much a transaction will cost in advance," when the value of the asset you are paying with fluctuates with substantial volatility. Purchasing a certain amount of a token for a fixed amount of utility is the best that can be done for predictability. With the council changing the amounts anyway, it may be better to fix the fees in HBAR and have the council revisit the fees regularly to keep them sustainable. Of course they can also adjust them based on the average value of an $HBAR to adjust for appreciation/depreciation or inflation. If the council were to commit to adjusting the fees to account for volatility such that costs were in a predictable range, that provides the same benefit and reduces volatility in *actually using* the network. Remove one of the two variable factors in predicting the cost of your use case. The council should revisit fixing fees in USD and fix them in HBAR. Low, predictable fees are enough. It\'s all you can actually promise and deliver on. @leemonbaird @ManceHarmon @CharlesXAdkins
