The Financial Intelligence Unit (which had previously raided https://t.co/uSdB3ahkWj days before its launch in the jurisdiction) approved changes to its Korean subsidiary, which @cryptocom acquired in 2022. The company reorganised its board to consist entirely of Korean nationals (all foreign executives stepped down; FIU had previously objected to Rafael Melo and, later, to Eric Anziani serving as director).

This move is seen as a clear demonstration of localisation and independence for the Korean entity. SungJun Hong, the new GM of https://t.co/uSdB3ahkWj Korea, called the approval a “green light” for full-scale entry into Korea.

The approval suggests that the entry of overseas exchanges, including https://t.co/uSdB3ahkWj, into the Korean market, which had been effectively blocked until now, is resuming. What is still needed is the renewal of the expired VASP license, and the opening of real-name KRW bank accounts with local banks for fiat trading (which the authorities previously denied).
