he made the right proposals and waited until the system handed him exactly what he wanted.

no forced entry or alarm triggered.

just a legitimate transaction that happened to empty the vault.

in july 2024, a group calling themselves the golden boys quietly accumulated enough compound governance tokens to push through a proposal transferring $25 million in comp from the dao treasury into a multisig they fully controlled.

they did not hack anything ( the godfather playbook)

they voted and made three proposals across months , each one testing how the community responded.

learning where the resistance was thin and where the apathy ran deep.

voter turnout hovered around four to five percent of total supply which meant a well funded attacker needed to move only a small amount of capital to own the outcome.

the community was not robbed ,it was simply outvoted by people who showed up when everyone else stayed home.

this is the godfather's problem in defi ( a very crazy one).

the most dangerous transactions are the ones that look completely normal....a proposal that moves through governance,gets the required votes,clears the execution threshold and the treasury walks out the door dressed as a legitimate decision.

no exploit signature to flag or abnormal contract call to catch.

just a number moving from one address to another with full protocol approval.
