There are maybe three crypto conferences left worth attending and @proofoftalk is one of them. Some observations from day 1: - @CantonNetwork is the place to build or migrate. They have aspirations to dominate retail payments as well, not just institutional. The main retail perk is privacy, main institutional perks are liquidity, strong existing partnerships, and the technical ability to control which nodes can see or run your deployments. To watch here: @tryMinted @Noves_fi - AI cybersecurity threats break the assumptions that monolithic centralized systems have scaled on over the past 20+ years. Decentralized networks, identity verification, and key management all play a role in the solution. A surprising number of family offices investing in Bittensor $TAO - Adjacent to this, turning AI usage into “useful proof of work” to secure a chain is gaining traction and solving a problem as old as Bitcoin itself @prlnet - Everyone is trying to OTC sell $LAB. No bids at 80% discount. - Also saw more people in suits than any other crypto native conference I’ve been to, not counting “digital asset class” style events. The institutions are not going anywhere. Overall my second time to a crypto event in Paris. Generally tend to be smaller events, but higher signal. A lot of activity and energy. $TAO Bittensor Track - Proof of Talk @metanova_labs, SN68, delivered one of the strongest Proof of Talk pitches so far. @micaelabazo presented NOVA as a drug discovery subnet built on Bittensor, using open competition to improve scientific search. Today the subnet runs competitions across small molecules, nanobodies, and chemical search algorithms. The number that caught my attention: 61 billion possible molecules. Brute forcing that search is slow, expensive, and inefficient. NOVA turns the problem into a miner competition, where participants compete to find better molecules faster. During the presentation, NOVA shared that one winning algorithm was 973x more efficient than random sampling. This is exactly the kind of story Bittensor needs to tell more often. A difficult problem. A measurable result. A competitive incentive system. A reason for miners to think, build, and optimize. If Bittensor wants more institutional attention and more serious builders entering the ecosystem, subnets need to communicate their value this clearly. The fact that @const_reborn came up right away after my panel remarks to ask how to fix this is why I remain bullish on bittensor:native. Few founders would. As far as those comments, my decentralized heart dislikes the need for any involvement from tradfi, but unfortunately the world operates on pragmatism, not ideals. The old world still rules and the battle for AI is now. Capital is oxygen. Without it subnets starve. Just like we don’t have Betamax today, the superior solution can and often does lose. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen to Bittensor. For institutions that mostly means predictability and rewards in the index (root yield) over subnet yield. Top growth does tend to trickle down as investors will seek alpha. Saturation and then down. Getting money in TAO is where it start. This is the same flow as L1 investments moving into L2s or tier I into memecoins, etc. In our case for @SafelloAB and our structured product $STAO, it follows the same logic. A subnet ETP can’t succeed without first having a successful TAO ETP.
