This post is specifically for you who have incurred many losses in futures trading, especially crypto.
Take a look.
As Sun Tzu said, "Know yourself and your enemy, then you will win 100 battles."
Here I will elaborate on the "enemy" you face in the crypto futures market, which is the market itself.
And the most dangerous thing is that this enemy is not the "market maker" or "institution" or whales, or anything like that.
This enemy is very subtle in taking your money and causing continuous losses.
Almost every trader I know gets trapped in this vicious cycle:
- Deposit
- Open a position
- After opening a position, why does it reverse?!
- Hold while affirming
- Hit stop loss
- Open another position
- Reverse again
- Cut loss
- Repeat until -85% of capital
- Get angry
- Occasionally 500% profit
- But then all profit and capital disappear
Over time, you'll probably think the market is being manipulated.
- Those who lose say it's illegal
- Those who profit become arrogant then lose
- Seeing profit, they are accused of being fake screenshots
- Those posting content are said to be just selling courses
- Those selling classes are questioned why sell when they're already rich from trading
All of this stems from loss stress in the market.
Many people misunderstand here:
If you trade with 20x leverage, it means you will be liquidated if the price drops 5% (because 20 × 5 = 100). That's NOT the case! Only naive people think that.
Pay attention:
- Trading fees. Can be several percent on their own
- Funding fees
- Slippage
- and others
There are many hidden "costs" you don't calculate, so the liquidation price is much closer than your estimate, and even before that you have already "lost" due to those fees.
Therefore, even a slight pullback or a small check can result in a total loss.
In fact, many people lose not because they can't analyze the market, but because they don't consider those small factors.
(Compare it with spot trading. The difference is huge.)
Then those small factors, combined with the habit of traders who want to get rich quickly—compounding capital—become a deadly combination.
- 100, 100% profit becomes 200
- 200, 100% profit becomes 400
- 400, 100% profit becomes 800
It looks super cool, as if you've found the secret to getting rich.
But just one unlucky streak,
Loss 50%, the 800 becomes 400!
Another loss of 30%, the 400 becomes 280!
That doesn't even include the small factors we discussed above.
If you understand this, start making changes within yourself:
- Understand the hidden fees mentioned earlier
- Treat leverage with respect
The bottom line: survive first, profit will follow later.
