If quantum risk stops being theoretical and becomes immediate, which chains are actually prepared?
I mapped out major blockchains that still rely on ECC-based signatures such as ECDSA and EdDSA, alongside the value currently sitting on them and their apparent level of post-quantum readiness.
A few takeaways stood out clearly:
• Ethereum appears to be the furthest ahead in public readiness efforts, while also carrying the largest TVL exposure
• Solana already has a post-quantum defense prototype running on testnet
• Bitcoin remains at an early stage, with BIP-360 serving more as a preparatory step than a full migration plan
• Algorand stands out for already having live implementation progress, including Falcon-1024 for state proofs
• Cosmos deserves a closer look because aggregated zone TVL may differ from headline chain-level figures, yet visible PQ discussion still seems limited
The real question is no longer just which chains use vulnerable cryptography today, it is which ecosystems can move early enough if the threat window closes faster than expected.
