NEO attracted a lot of attention in the Microsoft technology community in early 2017, yet its notoriety in the crypto world was low. When NEO was only ¥1, I bought over 80,000 tokens. On June 22 I was invited to a new brand launch event where CZ (Zhao Changpeng) was also present; he was promoting a "New Digital Currency Exchange Platform". When we left that day, each person received a red USB drive containing 200 NEO coins; many people didn't take theirs. After the conference, the price rose to 30, exceeding everyone's expectations (I expected 20). The whole NEO team hadn't anticipated such a high rise; at that point the red USB drive was already worth ¥6,000. I then heard rumors that early project investors had already exited and held almost no tokens, with the coins remaining in the NEO team's hands. Subsequently, NEO, bearing the title of the first domestic public chain, saw a surge in community enthusiasm, and a large number of tokens were airdropped to the developer community. I was working on a third‑party wallet at the time, and a third‑party blockchain explorer was rewarded with tokens worth about 4 million yuan. As community excitement grew, NEO's price also entered a steep rally. During this period, when the price approached ¥920, the NEO team announced a reward for early investors, an extra airdrop of tokens. I was very puzzled, because with the price skyrocketing, early investors had already received their deserved returns in the market—why an additional airdrop? My question received no reasonable answer, and feeling confused I liquidated 90% of my holdings, leaving only a small portion as a base position. Later the price surged to a peak of ¥1,400, went through a bear market, then a bull market rebound to ¥1,000. This current bull cycle hasn't started yet; I only have $4 left, and then I learned that two founders were in a dispute, causing technical lead Zhang Zhengwen to leave. However, with Zhang Zhengwen announcing his return to NEO, the price has also recovered somewhat. It is ironic to be asked for "financial disclosure" by the very person who controls the super majority of Neo's treasury, dictates the voting of consensus nodes, and has shown no hesitation to hijack the protocol at the expense of the community and token holders. A blockchain project cannot function under one man's custody. For years, I have urged Erik to transfer the NEO/GAS tokens from his personal custody to NF’s multisig addresses—with him remaining as a key holder. Yet, he has consistently found excuses to delay this process. Most recently, I was told it would be completed around the time the N3 migration finishes. Before today, I avoided raising this publicly to protect community confidence and to give space for an orderly resolution. That silence was born of the hope that he would honor his promise. That restraint has now been misinterpreted. I should have done this earlier. Neo is my brainchild, and I will never abandon it or this community.
