Follow-up to the $ATOM cup and handle structure I posted. I’m seeing something similar on $TOTAL3, which is the total crypto market cap excluding BTC and ETH. The structure is not quite as clean as ATOM because the handle retraced deeper, roughly near the 50% depth of the cup. That’s important. A textbook cup and handle usually has a handle that retraces around 1/3 to 1/2 of the cup depth. Once the handle gets deeper than that, the setup starts losing quality. But a deeper handle does not automatically invalidate the pattern. It just means the structure needs stronger confirmation. And that confirmation is happening right now. $TOTAL3 broke above prior resistance near the cup rim and is now retesting that same area from above. This is the real test. Old resistance needs to become new support. If buyers defend this zone, the measured move remains in play and the broader alt market structure stays constructive. If price loses the breakout zone and falls back into the prior range, then the setup weakens and the measured move should not be assumed. That’s why retests matter. The pattern gives you the setup. The flip from resistance to support tells you whether the market agrees.

$ATOM is one of the assets I've mentioned and am looking at. Here's what I'm seeing as this is exactly what you look for with a cup and handle pattern. This is a textbook example of why the retest matters. The cup and handle structure has played out cleanly so far: - Rounded cup. - Handle consolidation. - Breakout through resistance. - Retest of the breakout zone. But the breakout alone is not the most important part. The real confirmation comes when old resistance flips into new support. That is what I am watching now. The white box on this chart was previously resistance. Price broke above it, moved higher, and has now come back to test that same area from above. If buyers defend this zone, the structure remains healthy and the measured move becomes much more realistic. If price loses the breakout zone and falls back into the prior range, then the setup weakens and the measured move should not be assumed. This is why I always say the chart has to confirm. A pattern gives you the setup. The retest tells you whether the market agrees. For ATOM ($COSMOS), the key is simple: Hold the breakout/retest zone as support, and the cup and handle measured move remains in play.

"Labs killed old Cosmos" is too clean. This was a sequencing failure, not an ideological one. Old Cosmos was already a dumpster fire of meme coins with chains attached and no PMF. The real mistake was leaving $ATOM bagholders with no believable near-term Hub story while the enterprise pitch was still cooking.
