Pivoting infra → apps is hard precisely because it removes the narrative shield and forces you to compete on users.
@MantaNetwork shipping multiple apps + testing a new primitive with their own funds is what “product-first” actually looks like, not forks, not trend-chasing.
If you care about adoption, this is the playbook; this is how ecosystems win long-term.
35.1K @superanonymousk When we saw this inevitable fate coming a year ago, we decided to start pivoting into applications and use cases at @MantaNetwork -- before any other L2 would dare to even entertain that idea.
Some people were skeptical, but when I had deep conversations with folks, we arrived at the same conclusion. But despite coming to that result, taking the action would still prove hard and very scary. No project has ever shifted from infrastructure over to application, especially not in a meaningful way. We were the first.
But I think we've also proven that it's doable. Today, we have two applications out that are growing very rapidly:
✅ @junkfun_ has over 100,000 users earning thousands of dollars from dead tokens;
✅ @SUPERFORTUNE888 also has a very healthy userbase specifically targeting a niche intersection of web3 and eastern metaphysics
We're also coming out soon with a third one. It's a novel (read: never done before) defi protocol that we've been testing with our own funds.

56.4K @Airdropfinds Holder Manta and other L2 tokens may have their patience further tested, because Vitalik has recently been making bold moves in public. Lately Vitalik has been continuously selling ETH amid market decline, adding negative sentiment for ETH and the market in times like this.
And a few days ago Vitalik Buterin sparked a major discussion in the Ethereum community. In short, it was quite provocative: Ethereum Layer-1 today is no longer in the position of “being forced to depend” on Layer-2 for scaling. Not because L2 failed, but because L1 itself has grown far faster than previously anticipated. And it is now felt that L2 is no longer relevant for a roadmap focused on rollups.
Transaction fees on the mainnet are now low, capacity keeps rising, and Vitalik noted that starting in 2026 the L1 gas limit could increase significantly. In other words, the old assumption that “L1 will always be expensive and narrow, L2 is the only savior” is already wavering.
