    Bitcoin is the first money that can live in your head. I remember the moment that really landed for me. Twelve words to memorize, and you can walk away from every bank, every dollar bill, and still own the full fruits of your labor. I didn’t treat that idea with enough reverence when I discovered Bitcoin in 2013. I left coins sitting on sketchy exchanges, half-did self custody, trusted intermediaries to hold my Bitcoin because they "looked legit". When you take self-custody, you begin to understand why the world sometimes moves very slowly toward Bitcoin. Tech companies gets rewarded with endless VC capital for removing friction, smoothing edges, making everything feel effortless in virtually everything - food delivery, banking, hospitality. But some things deserve weight. A process that reminds you of the responsibility it requires to be a steward of your own time. Back up your bitcoin like you plan to be around a while.
