    The Quantum Summit kicks off at ETHDenver with speakers from Algorand, Sei, Espresso, and Amazon discussing post-quantum migration. While most projects are workshopping strategy, is demonstrating solutions. ---------- Quantum computers will break the cryptography securing every blockchain: - Shor's algorithm breaks RSA and elliptic-curve encryption - Grover's algorithm enables brute-force attacks - Adversaries are harvesting blockchains today to decrypt later when quantum machines arrive - NIST standardized post-quantum algorithms in 2022 This is why ETHDenver dedicated an entire summit to it. ---------- In November 2025, Algorand executed the first post-quantum transaction on a major Layer 1 blockchain using Falcon signatures, a NIST-standardized, lattice-based scheme. The team built on proven cryptographic research from Gentry, Peikert (head of cryptography at Algorand Technologies), and Vaikuntanathan. Falcon verification runs in under 100 microseconds. It integrates with Algorand's stateless authorization layer. The Falcon Signatures CLI gives developers working tools to create quantum-resistant accounts today. State Proofs already secure the blockchain's entire history with post-quantum signatures every 256 rounds. ---------- While summit panels debate: - Migration challenges - Performance - Interoperability - Standards alignment Algorand has already solved them in production. By the time competitors finish strategizing and launch implementations, Algorand will have years of production experience, refined developer tools, live wallet integrations, and an ecosystem built around quantum-resistant transactions.
